The how, when, where, who and what of my first time cruise. Embarkation day

Me and my husband were finally able to get some time off from our work  and we made plans to spend the short amount of time experiencing something we have never done before. Looking for some short weekend getaways, I stumbled upon the Utopia Of the Seas from Royal Caribbean. An oasis class ship that is set to do it's inaugural sail on July 19. It is the second largest cruise ship in the world next to it's sister, the Icon of the seas.                       What better way to experience and be introduced to the cruise life than being able to sail on a new ship. So in June 2024, we booked a reservation on what will be known as the World's biggest weekend, the Utopia of the Seas. The booking process was a breeze, choose your available dates, pick a room and pay. Can't be anymore straightforward than that. We chose our sail dates of August 9 to August 12, booked a balcony room with ocean view. For t...

Quick Post: Bamahenge

Spending sunday like we intend to spend it, roadtrips and discovering new places. Initial plan for the day was to ride a ferry to go to Dauphin island but a tropical storm was heading our way so the ferries were not running today. We decided to do Dauphin Island some other time. So a quick side trip to Bamahenge is what we did instead.

After a nice country road drive, we made it to Bamahenge in Elberta, Alabama. This is about a 30 minute drive from where we live. If you are ever nearby, this should be on your list of to see places.

Bamahenge is a replica of the stonehenge, located in Wilthshire, England. Although not an exact replica, it has the same astrological alignment as the original.

Here are some snapshots I took on my mobile phone so quality is not that good.

These "stones" are made out of fiberglass. It looks so realistic from afar, but when you get up close and personal, you can knock on the henges and you will here a hollow sound.

The location is out of sight from the main road, a brisk 2-3 minute walk in the middle of trees is all it takes.

This area is located in a place known as Barber Marina, during our drive I noticed some little pull off areas where hidden statues are located, most of them are dinosaurs. I didn't get to see all of them but that will be on our next trip when we have more time to explore.

One of the "dinosaurs", this was on the side of the road so I had a chance to pull over and take some pictures. The others are hidden within the trees scattered in different parts along the stretch of road.

At the end of the road there is a Marina where beautiful boats are docked. A beautiful fountain welcomes you into the Marina.

Barber Marina.

The image below has a huge statue of a lady's head and knees which makes it seem like a giant is bathing in the water.

Such a nice day spend with my family. We will be going back of course to take in the whole marina and Bamahenge experience when weather permits. Also, stay tuned for our trip to Dauphin island.

What are you roadtrip goals, any particular places you would love to see? Let me know and I hope I can see them as well. Any road trip recommendations?

See you on my next roadtrip, thanks for visiting.

Till next time, Lovely.
