The how, when, where, who and what of my first time cruise. Embarkation day

Me and my husband were finally able to get some time off from our work  and we made plans to spend the short amount of time experiencing something we have never done before. Looking for some short weekend getaways, I stumbled upon the Utopia Of the Seas from Royal Caribbean. An oasis class ship that is set to do it's inaugural sail on July 19. It is the second largest cruise ship in the world next to it's sister, the Icon of the seas.                       What better way to experience and be introduced to the cruise life than being able to sail on a new ship. So in June 2024, we booked a reservation on what will be known as the World's biggest weekend, the Utopia of the Seas. The booking process was a breeze, choose your available dates, pick a room and pay. Can't be anymore straightforward than that. We chose our sail dates of August 9 to August 12, booked a balcony room with ocean view. For t...

Discovering trails: Tarkiln Bayou Trail

The Tarkiln Bayou trail, located within the Tarkiln Bayou Preserve State Park is a 1 mile loop paved and boardwalk trail that takes you through beautiful scenery. There are two trails within the park, The Tarkiln trail being the shorter one and the Perdido Bayou trail being 7.2 miles back and forth. We took the shorter one this time since we only just started discovering trails and wasn't sure if we would make it make before sunset if we took the longer of the two, but that was before we found out that it was a total of 7.2 miles going and coming back.

The state park is located at 2401 Bauer road, Pensacola Florida. It is open from 8am to sunset year round. Entrance fee is based on the honor system (a box where you deposit your money). $3 for parking or $2 for walk-in. There's a small picnic area at the beginning and also restrooms.

The Tarkiln trail is most know for it's pitcher plants, tho I didn't see any during my walk. I was hoping to see more wild life and different kinds of flowers/plants but I'm guessing it was wrong timing or not the right season to hike here. Eventhough, the walk was very majestic and the trail was beautiful. What I loved most about it was the zigzag boardwalk heading towards the bayou.

Here's a short video of our walk discovering the Tarkiln trail.

This should be the start of our discovering trails nearby since I really enjoyed the scenery, and don't forget about the extra perk, it is indeed a workout to walk these miles.

Till next adventure, Lovely.
