Me and my husband were finally able to get some time off from our work and we made plans to spend the short amount of time experiencing something we have never done before. Looking for some short weekend getaways, I stumbled upon the Utopia Of the Seas from Royal Caribbean. An oasis class ship that is set to do it's inaugural sail on July 19. It is the second largest cruise ship in the world next to it's sister, the Icon of the seas. What better way to experience and be introduced to the cruise life than being able to sail on a new ship. Come along with me as I revisit the Tarkiln Bayou Preserve state park, this time around I will be tackling the trail on a mountain bike. Last time we went here, we walked the Tarkiln bayou trail, you can check that out on my previous blog post.

Today we came back prepared, we took our mountain bikes with us, this will be my first time riding a bike on a trail. About five minutes in from entering the park, you will come along a cross road, going straight takes you to Tarkiln bayou trail (1 mile loop) and taking a right leads you through the Perdido Bay trail (7.2 mile loop).
We arrived at the park around 9am on a sunday so there were still alot of parking spots available. Entrance fee is $3 for vehicle parking and $2 for bicycles. Since it was a beautiful day there were quite a few people walking the trails, saw a few others riding their bikes and others were walking their dogs. So yes, this trail is a good place for hiking, biking and also walking your dogs. In case you want the location, the address is 2401 Bauer rd in Pensacola, Florida. Ample parking space is available but it does fill up during specific times of the day, there is a rest room at the entrance and a picnic area but aside from that it's all nature when you get past that part.
The bike ride was fun, it wasn't hot out and there was a breeze which helped us stay cool. There are a few spots along the trail that has mud puddles so you have a choice to walk around the edges, or in our case, we rode through most of them. Eventhough the trail is 7 miles, it is an easy trail. I saw some little kids with their parents walking the whole trail and they didn't seem to be tired.
At the end of the Perdido bay trail you will run into a remote beach. It was so calm and relaxing. It was kind of like gold at the end of the rainbow, all that peddling took us here. And it was worth it!
