The how, when, where, who and what of my first time cruise. Embarkation day

Me and my husband were finally able to get some time off from our work  and we made plans to spend the short amount of time experiencing something we have never done before. Looking for some short weekend getaways, I stumbled upon the Utopia Of the Seas from Royal Caribbean. An oasis class ship that is set to do it's inaugural sail on July 19. It is the second largest cruise ship in the world next to it's sister, the Icon of the seas.                       What better way to experience and be introduced to the cruise life than being able to sail on a new ship. So in June 2024, we booked a reservation on what will be known as the World's biggest weekend, the Utopia of the Seas. The booking process was a breeze, choose your available dates, pick a room and pay. Can't be anymore straightforward than that. We chose our sail dates of August 9 to August 12, booked a balcony room with ocean view. For t...

Falling Waters State Park

A brief walk through the Falling waters state park, come along and explore with me.

After our visit to Ponce De Leon Springs we decided to make a stop over at a nearby state park, the Falling waters state park located in Chipley, Florida. The actual location if you would like to key it into your navigation system is 1130 state park rd, Chipley, FL. 32428

This is the location of Florida's highest waterfall but before this information gets you excited, it's a different kind of waterfall, it's 73 feet dropping into the 100 foot deep, 20 foot wide cylindrical pit and the water destination is unknown based on their site. Still nonetheless very beautiful and majestic.

There is a $5 entrance fee per vehicle (2-8 people) into the park or $4 for a single occupancy vehicle, $2 for pedestrians, cyclists. The park is open from 8am to sunset all year round but they also allow camping throughout the night. Ample parking space at the main entrance to the falls, restrooms and a little picnic area is also located near the entrance. A playground for children is few steps from the picnic area. A brief 5-8 minute walk along the main path will take you right where the falls is located. It consists of two overlooking areas, an upper deck and a lower deck.

The upper deck gives your a better perspective of how high the falls are while the lower deck gets you up close and personal to the actual falls and the pit it falls into. Throughout the earlier part of the pathway, you will see multiple sinkholes on both sides.

Here's a perspective of what you can see standing on the upper deck, you can see the waterfalls and also the lower deck below.

Right here is the lower deck where you get to enjoy the cool mist produced by the waterfall and also indulge in the sound of flowing water. After enjoying the beauty at this location, we decided to take a walk around the park. It was a warm spring day but the weather was perfect, a little breeze helped us keep cool. The chirping of different birds is what you can hear along the path, a few bees every now and then but not something that is concerning.

The path took as to this beautiful lake where the campgrounds are located. There is a little portion of the area where you can take a dip, there are no life guards on duty. A warning sign of possible alligators also greets you near the beach area, we didn't see any tho. There are picnic tables located in the area and also another restroom. The whole area looks well maintained. There are a few paths that are being reconstructed and a few fallen trees which I believe is because of hurricane Sally.

Another trail we get to tick off from our bucket list, we are looking for more nearby trails to explore, do you have any suggestions?

Thanks again for reading my blog, I'm just doing my best to live my dream of exploring the beautiful world we live in, this time it's Florida, who knows, hopefully one day I will be able to travel outside of the country, Canada perhaps?

                                                                                                       Until next adventures, Lovely
